🎤 POST MALONE AND JELLY ROLL TO CO-HEADLINE SUMMER CONCERT AT THE K Post Malone announced a massive summer tour stop at Kauffman Stadium with Jelly Roll joining as a co-headliner. The stadium show is one of the biggest concert events ever booked at the K and is expected to draw fans from across the Midwest, adding to Kansas City’s growing slate of large-scale 2026-era events.
🚌 JOHNSON COUNTY LAUNCHING ITS OWN TRANSIT PLAN FOR WORLD CUP VISITORS Johnson County leaders unveiled a standalone public transit strategy aimed at serving World Cup visitors in 2026. The plan focuses on express routes, park-and-ride hubs, and connections to major hotels and entertainment areas, filling gaps where existing regional transit does not currently reach.
🏨 ENGLAND BOOKS PRAIRIE VILLAGE HOTEL FOR WORLD CUP England’s national soccer team has booked accommodations in Prairie Village ahead of the 2026 World Cup, signaling Kansas City’s role as a team base camp city. The booking adds credibility to earlier reports that international teams are locking in KC-area hotels well ahead of the tournament.
🚍 KCATA BOARD APPROVES $2 TRANSIT FARES STARTING IN JUNE The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority board voted to implement a flat $2 fare across its system beginning in June. The move marks a shift away from the zero-fare pilot program and is intended to stabilize funding while keeping transit relatively affordable.
🏡 LENEXA RESIDENTS PUSH BACK ON HOUSING PLAN FOR PARK LAND Residents in Lenexa voiced strong opposition to a proposed housing development planned for land currently used as informal park space. Neighbors argued the city is running out of green space and questioned whether development pressure is outweighing long-term community needs.
🏟️ WYANDOTTE COUNTY AND OLATHE BOTH APPROVE STAR BOND MEASURES FOR CHIEFS STADIUM AND ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT Local leaders in Olathe and Wyandotte County approved STAR bond districts tied to the Kansas City Chiefs’ planned move to Kansas. Olathe’s City Council voted unanimously to support financing for the team’s proposed headquarters and training facility, while Wyandotte County commissioners passed a stadium district in a narrower 7–3 vote following public opposition. Both decisions allow future sales tax revenue generated inside the districts to help fund the projects, with additional approvals still ahead.

Demolition Clears the Way for Major Redevelopment at Parade Park and Robeson School
Demolition is officially underway at the long-vacant Parade Park Homes in Kansas City’s historic 18th and Vine District, marking the start of a $300 million redevelopment effort following a series of fires that damaged the property over the past several months. City leaders say the project will replace the former complex—once one of the nation’s first Black-owned housing cooperatives—with new, modern housing options aimed at seniors, families, and working residents, including opportunities for former residents to return. Mayor Quinton Lucas called the demolition a meaningful step toward restoring safety, removing blight, and reinvesting in a historically significant neighborhood after delays tied to federal permitting. At the same time, crews have begun tearing down the former Paul Robeson Middle School in south Kansas City, which has sat empty since 2006. Following a preservation review and receivership action against a stalled developer, the city says the demolition closes a long chapter of neglect and opens the door for future development that can better serve the surrounding community.
