Thousands Celebrate Opening of Green Street in Downtown Lee’s Summit
Green Street, a $44 million community gathering space in downtown Lee’s Summit, officially opened last weekend and drew thousands of residents despite the sweltering August heat.
The three-acre venue, located next to City Hall, features a 17,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor farmers market pavilion that can host up to 100 vendors, an inclusive playground, performance stage, public art, and shaded areas for families.
The grand opening weekend kicked off Friday, August 15, with a ribbon-cutting and block party, followed by a packed farmers market and live entertainment on Saturday, and a wellness-focused Sunday featuring yoga and games. Vendors and residents alike praised the space for its size, amenities, and ability to keep the community engaged year-round.
City leaders say the project, more than a decade in the making, represents the new heart of downtown and will host everything from concerts and food trucks to private events. And this is just the beginning — phase two will bring a boutique hotel, retail, apartments, and dining, transforming Green Street into a full live-work-play destination for the Lee’s Summit community.

Kansas City to Host Premier League Mornings Live Fan Festival in September
The Premier League and NBC Sports have announced that Kansas City will host the 11th Premier League Mornings Live Fan Festival on September 20–21, 2025, at KC Live! in the Power & Light District. This free two-day event will feature live broadcasts of all 10 Premier League matches, appearances from NBC Sports’ studio team, club legends, mascots, and the Premier League Trophy, along with family-friendly soccer activities. Supported by Visit KC and the Power & Light District, the festival celebrates the city’s strong soccer culture while offering fans a chance to connect with the global game. Kansas City joins cities like New York, Boston, and Los Angeles in hosting the event, which has drawn more than 100,000 fans across the U.S. since its launch.
I analyze why Kansas City's housing market isn't crashing like other cities. While Austin and San Francisco face 5-6% price drops, KC is only projected to decline 0.7%. Breaking down local data to show we're rebalancing, not collapsing.
