🏢 DEVELOPMENT SCENE

A boutique hotel with Italian flair is coming to Kansas City's River Market.

Developers are transforming the old Gateway Luggage building at 415 Delaware into a 52-room boutique hotel with a ground-floor Italian restaurant called Con Amore.

The restaurant will also expand into the green space north of the building. The city approved code modifications to preserve parts of the building’s historic architecture while ensuring it meets modern standards.

The project is expected to open in spring 2026, just in time for the World Cup.

🏐 SPORTS SCENE

During a sold-out match at Children’s Mercy Park, the official Kansas City Host City Poster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ was revealed. Titled ‘Woven Together’, the design was created by local artist Jadie Arnett and chosen from over 100 submissions.

The Kansas City 2026 FIFA World Cup™ poster titled "Woven Together" uses the soccer scarf as a symbol to share a vibrant, three-part story. The first scene follows fans traveling through Kansas landmarks like sunflowers, the Keeper of the Plains, and aviation icons, before arriving in Kansas City, Missouri, marked by the Bartle Hall Sky Stations. The second scene captures the intensity of match day inside the Kansas City Stadium. The final scene celebrates victory with BBQ, jazz, and Union Station, featuring a fountain for KC’s nickname, the City of Fountains, and a heart symbolizing the Heartland of soccer.

For the first time ever, FIFA allowed host cities to lead their own poster design, highlighting the unique culture of each location. Posters will be available April 19 at FIFAWorldCup.com.
