The Parker to Bring New Life to 18th & Vine, Preserve Jazz Legacy
🎷 Big News in the 18th & Vine District: “The Parker” Breaks Ground
A major development is officially underway in Kansas City’s iconic 18th & Vine District! 🎉
The Parker, a $23 million mixed-income apartment project led by 18th & Vine Developers LLC, is now in motion — bringing 48 new apartments, 10,000 square feet of commercial space, and a full restoration of the historic House of Hitsbuilding.
Named after Kansas City jazz legend Charlie “Bird” Parker, this project isn’t just about housing — it’s about honoring legacy. The House of Hits, once tied to the Kansas City Monarchs and the heart of the city’s jazz scene, will get a second life as a cultural anchor.
Even better? The Parker will offer deeply affordable units and community-focused retail. Plans include a storefront for Kansas City G.I.F.T. and a brand-new Leagues Sports Lounge location.
This project is part of a larger wave of investment in the district — from the upcoming 18th Street Pedestrian Mall to the expansion of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
📅 Construction Timeline: Approx. 18 months 💸 Funding: City, state, and federal partnerships
18th & Vine is buzzing with new energy, and The Parker is helping to lead the way.
